Today, we're at the bargaining table fighting for strong Paid Parental Leave. Sadly, @Gannett is near the bottom of media companies for paid time off for new families. And in the last two years, the company has actually *CUT* benefits for new parents. 🧡

We believe @Gannett can and should do better. Right now, Gannett gives birth mothers six weeks fully paid + six weeks paid at 60%. That’s far below others in the industry. Bloomberg, WaPo, NYT, WSJ, Boston Globe, Poynter etc., offer 16-26 paid weeks.

If you are a father or adoptive parent at @Gannett, you receive even less paid leave. You're only eligible for six weeks. Do fathers need less time with their children, @Gannett? Are adopted children less important?

Most of us cannot afford to give up weeks of pay to spend time bonding with our infants. The company should not put new parents in a position to have to make that choice. @Gannett must agree to better Paid Parental Leave in our contract. /

Good luck! I got no time off for my two oldest while working at commercial TV stations. And was forced to take vacation and sick leave for the last two.
